Whenever installing equipment into the rack, observe the following guidelines.
For specific instructions on servicing servers or equipment in the rack, refer to the equipment documentation.
Obey all cautions and guidelines found in the rack and equipment documentation.
Attach an antistatic wrist strap, and take antistatic precautions, whenever handling and installing electronic equipment.
Always extend the anti-tilt legs whenever servicing equipment in the rack.
Extend only one piece of equipment out of the rack at a time.
If you need to remove equipment from the rack, use a mechanical lift to lift the equipment. Otherwise, get help before attempting to lift heavy equipment.
Caution - To reduce the risk of personal injury, ensure that the rack is adequately stabilized before extending a component outside the rack. A rack might become unstable and tip over if more than one component is extended for any reason.
Refer to the equipment documentation for the specific instructions.
Note - Depending on the serviceable component, you might be able to service the component without powering off the equipment. For example, you might be able to replace air filters or hot-swap disk drives without powering off the equipment. Refer to your equipment documentation for these servicing procedures.
You might not need to power off the rack to service installed equipment. However, if you need to power off the rack, see Power the Rack Off for instructions.
See Extend the Anti-Tilt Legs for instructions.
See Attach an Antistatic Wrist Strap for instructions.
Refer to the equipment service manual, or other documentation, for the specific service procedures.
