The Prestoserve(TM) User's Guide is used to install and operate the Prestoserve option available for Sun(TM) workstations and servers. This user's guide along with the Service Manual that came with your system and/or NVRAM hardware, provides all of the information that you need to install and operate the Sun Prestoserve hardware and software. You should also have the SunDiag User's Guide ready for reference when running diagnostics at the end of this installation.
This book describes the installation and use of two different versions of the Prestoserve driver; one for the SunOS(TM) 4.x operating system and one for the Solaris® 2.x operating system with an SBus card or NVSIMM. The hardware installation procedures are the same for both operating systems and are described in Chapter 1 and the installation instructions that came with your hardware. The software installation procedure for SunOS 4.x is described in Chapter 2 and the software installation procedure for Solaris 2.x is described in Chapter 3.
Chapters 4 and 5 have additional information which can help you manage your new Prestoserve product. These chapters have information for both operating systems. Use the information that applies to your operating system. The appendices contain additional information that could be helpful should problems arise with the Prestoserve product.
