Solaris Easy Access Server 3.0 Installation Guide

Configuring WBEM

As a prerequisite to installation, Sun WBEM requires that Sun Directory Services 3.1 (SDS) is started. The installation does not prompt you to provide the SDS password, and SDS does not start. When your SEAS installation has completed, the CIM Object Manager starts automatically and returns an error message indicating that SDS is not configured. Running the wbemconfig script starts SDS and configures your Sun WBEM environment. After installing Sun WBEM as part of SEAS, use the following procedure to run wbemconfig.

You must be logged in as root to run the wbemconfig script. Use the following procedure to configure your Sun WBEM environment.

How to Configure Sun WBEM
  1. Become root on your system by typing the following command:

    % su

  2. Run the wbemconfig script using the following command:

    # /opt/SUNWconn/wbem/binwbemconfig

  3. When prompted, type admin as the SDS administrative account password.

The wbemconfig script runs and automatically does the following:

    • Configures SDS.

    • Starts the CIM Object Manager.

    • Starts the MOF Compiler and compiles two MOF files:

      • CIM_Schema21.mof -- provides the classes that make up the CIM Schema

      • Solaris_Schema1.0.mof -- provides the classes that make up the Solaris Schema
