Solaris Easy Access Server 3.0 Release Notes

Chapter 1 Update 11/18/1999

This update dated 11/18/1999, part number 806-0215-13, contains late-breaking information about an important fix to the Java Development Kit (JDK) 1.1.7 and a correction to the documentation regarding licenses for PC NetLink (SunLink Server).

Must Install JDK 1.1.7_08a

The Java Development Kit version 1.1.7 must be updated with version 1.1.7_08a in order to fix a Y2K bug. The 1.1.7_08a version of the JDK is available for download at http://www.sun.com/solaris/java. It is also available with Solaris 7 Update 11/99 and on SEAS CDs that ship with the Solaris 7 Update 11/99 operating environment.

To check the version of the JDK you currently have installed, type java -fullversion.

If you have installed the 11/99 Update of the Solaris 7 operating environment, you should already have the JDK 1.1.7_08a version.

If you installed Solaris Easy Access Server 3.0 on a system that has the 8/99 Update or an earlier version of the Solaris 7 operating environment installed, then you must install JDK 1.1.7_08a. Likewise, if you have the Solaris 2.6 operating environment installed, you must install JDK 1.1.7_08a.

Registering a PC NetLink License

The SEAS 3.0 Installation Guide indicates that you receive a permanent product registration number with PC NetLink. That is not correct. Instead, you receive a temporary license that can be used for 90 days.

To purchase a permanent product registration number for PC NetLink, contact your Sun sales representative.
