Known Problems and Limitations

The following are known problems that are planned to be fixed in a future release of the product.

General Notes

Server Information Not Validated During Installation

During installation, you're asked to provide information about the Web Server that runs DSAME Services. The information includes host name, port number and so on. The Installation program does not validate the accuracy of the information. As a consequence, if the information is entered incorrectly or the Web Server doesn't exist at all, the agent will not work properly when it tries to contact the DSAME Web Server. (4615706, 4619597)

It is a good practice to test the agent's performance immediately after installation. You can do this by trying to access web content on the Web Server where the agent is installed. If the agent cannot communicate with DSAME, or fails to enforce a policy you've set, then you should run the Installation program again from the beginning, entering information accurately for a Web Server running DSAME services.

Password Not Protected During Command-Line Installation

If you run the Installation program from the command-line, when you enter a password, the password displays on the screen in clear text. As a consequence, another person may be able to view your password. (4629132)

Windows 20000 Notes

Installing Agents for Multiple iPlanet Web Servers

This problem occurs when you attempt to use the command-line Installation program to install a second URL policy agent on the same computer system. If you do not specify a different installation directory from the first agent, the Installation program will not allow you to proceed. The program appears to be stuck in a loop. Although no error message is displayed, this behavior is as designed. (4626153)

As a workaround, run the Installation program from the beginning. When prompted to Install DSAME agent in this directory, specify one other than the directory where the first agent is installed.

Graphical User Interface (GUI) Does Not Display Properly

If you run the Graphical User Interface (GUI) Installation program on a Japanese operating system with English locale, the program does not display properly. The problem renders the GUI Installation program unusable.(4619805)

As a workaround, use the command-line version of the Installation program. See the Installation Guide for detailed instructions.

Windows NT Notes

Internet Services Hang When You Attempt to Shutdown Individual Websites (Windows NT only)

It is highly recommended that you do not shut down your websites individually. Instead, you should shut them down collectively by stopping the IIS Admin Service, restarting the IIS Admin Service, and then restarting the individually managed services.

  1. To stop the IIS Admin Service, issue the following command from the command line:

    c:\>net stop iisadmin /y

Alternatively, you can shutdown the IIS Admin Service from the Services menu:

    1. Under the Start menu, select Control Panel.

    2. Click on Services.

    3. Select IIS Admin Service.

    4. Click Stop.

This will shutdown all internet services managed by the iisadmin process, including FTP services, WWW services and SMTP services.

  2. To restart the ISS Admin Service, issue the following command from the command line:

    c:\>net start iisadmin

Alternatively, you can restart the services from the Services menu:

    1. Under the Start menu, select Control Panel.

    2. Click on Services.

    3. Select IIS Admin Service.

    4. Click Start.

  3. To restart the individual services, issue the following command from the command line:

    c:\>net start w3svc

Alternatively, you can restart the individual services from the Services menu:

    1. Under the Start menu, select Control Panel.

    2. Click on Services.

    3. Select World Wide Web Publishing.

    4. Click Start.
