Chapter 11   Configuring User Information


The user information provider allows you to present a standard message to any user currently logged in to a mobile device or a browser. Text in the user information channel includes the following:

  • A greeting

  • The user name

  • Additional desktop information

  • Last update information, including date, time, and time zone

This chapter discusses how to use the Administration Console to configure the user information provider for your portal site user.

To set up the user information provider, complete the following steps:

  1. As root, log in to the Administration Console and select Manage Domains.

  2. Select the link for your server's domain.

  3. Select the icon next to the Applications heading to display the Applications list.

  4. Select the Desktop link to display the profile for the desktop.

  5. From the Available Channels list, select iwtWirelessUserInfoProvider.

  6. Select Edit Channel to display the personal note provider attributes.

  7. In the Title text field, specify a name for the channel.

    The personal note channel content is displayed with this name.

  8. In the Background Color text field, specify a background color for the channel.

  9. In the First Name text box, provide a default first name for the user.

  10. In the Last Name text box, provide a default last name for the user.

  11. In the Greeting text box, provide a short text message for the user.

  12. In the Handled Authentication Types text field, specify which authentication modules are to be available to the user.

  13. Select the Detached check box to detach the channel from the desktop.

  14. Select the Minimized check box to minimize the channel in the desktop.

  15. In the Refresh Time text field, specify the frequency for updating or refreshing content in the channel.

  16. Select the Framed check box to frame the channel in the desktop.

  17. In the Column text field, specify which column the channel is to appear in.

  18. In the Row text field, specify which row the channel is to appear in.

  19. Select Submit and then select Continue.
