How to Access and Run Pc-Check From a USB Device

To access and run Pc-Check diagnostics from an attached USB device, follow these steps:

  1. Create a bootable MS-DOS USB flash drive.

You can create a bootable USB flash drive using a freeware application such as BootFlashDOS 1.0.

  2. Using a system that contains both a CD/DVD drive and a USB port, insert the Tools and Drivers CD/DVD into the CD/DVD drive and the bootable USB flash drive into an available USB port.
  3. Copy the diags.zip file from the /diagnostics directory on the Tools and Drivers CD/DVD to the bootable MS-DOS USB flash drive.

Before continuing, unzip the contents of the diags.zip file to the USB flash drive.

  4. Ensure that the USB flash drive containing the contents of the Tools and Drivers CD/DVD is inserted into an available USB port on the server.
  5. Power on (or reboot) the server.

    The BIOS screen appears.

  6. In the BIOS screen, press F8 to specify a temporary boot device.

The Select Boot Device menu appears.

  7. In the Boot Device menu, select the USB flash drive as the first boot device, then press Enter.
  8. Save the changes and exit the system BIOS.

The system automatically boots to the USB flash drive.
