The Oracle Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel Release 2 for Linux is the second major release of Oracle's heavily tested and optimized operating system kernel for Oracle Linux 5 and Oracle Linux 6. It is based on the 3.0 mainline Linux kernel and contains improvements and new features that have been incorporated into mainline Linux since Release 1 of the kernel. The Oracle Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel Release 2 for Linux can be installed on Oracle Linux 5.8 and 6.2, and is installed by default on Oracle Linux 6.3.
