Note - Unless otherwise stated, the procedures in this section are deployment examples for an Oracle RAC configuration. If you use HA for Oracle, the tasks are the same as for Oracle RAC except that you configure only one database instance.

Description
Perform an initial configuration of the Oracle Data Guard software.
Create a protection group that is configured for Oracle Data Guard data replication.
Add a configuration that is controlled by Oracle Data Guard.
Add an application resource group to the protection group.
Replicate the protection group configuration to a standby cluster.
Activate the protection group.
Check the runtime status of replication.
Detect failure.
Migrate services by using a switchover.
Migrate services by using a takeover.
Recover data after forcing a takeover.
