9 <specType> Element

This chapter provides information on the <specType> element for the Network Integrity Unified Inventory Management (UIM) Sample Web Service.

About <specType>

The <specType> element is commonly used throughout UIM Sample Web Service examples (see Example 9-1, "<specType> Element"). The <specType> element is used to identify the entity type. This stages the operations to be executed for a particular UIM API. The <name> element must be present, but it is not used. You must include the <name> field for completeness, and it should be set to the name of the specification you are using. The <name> element must be present, but it is not used.
