Hierarchical Drill-Down Inquiry Setup

Overview

The Hierarchical Drill-Down Inquiry setup procedure defines an inquiry hierarchy of four to six levels of segments. Segments of the chart of accounts can be assigned to each level of the inquiry hierarchy, so that balances are summarized by segment to each level of drill-down inquiry.

The Setup Drill-Down Levels window is used to perform these tasks:

Each level corresponds to one segment in the chart of accounts.

This table shows an example of a hierarchical viewing structure.

To define accounting flexfield segments for a ledger:

  1. Navigate to the Setup Drill-Down Levels window.

  2. In the Ledger Name field, choose the name of the ledger.

  3. In the Segment Name field for level 1, enter the name of the accounting flexfield segment used for the first level drill-down inquiries.

  4. In the Segment Number field for level 1, enter the number of the accounting flexfield segment for the first level drill-down inquiries.

  5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 for remaining levels.

Note: You must define a minimum of four levels to generate drill-down mapping.

  6. Save your work.

A concurrent request ID that creates a mapping view for drill-down inquiries is generated.

Note: A ledger can have only one drill-down. When a drill-down setup is saved for a ledger, the new setup overwrites the existing setup.
