Managing Personal Extract Definitions

You can create, edit, or delete personal extract definitions. You can also download personal extract definitions from the Personal Extract Definition List page.

Before you begin. To perform these procedures, your user role must include the Manage Personal Extract privilege. You must have a valid personal extract definition XML file, see About Personal Extract Definitions.

To add a personal extract definition

  1. In the upper-right corner of any page, click the Admin global link.
  2. In the Data Management Tools section of the Admin Homepage, click the Import and Export Tools link.
  3. On the Import and Export Tools page, click the Manage Personal Extract Definition link.
  4. On the Personal Extract Definition List page, click New.
  5. Select the type of personal extract definition: Default or Role.
  6. If you selected Role for the type, select a role.
  7. Select the Active checkbox.
  8. In the File field, browse and add the personal extract definition file.
  9. Click Save.

The personal extract definition file is validated to determine the following:

    • Whether it is a well-formed XML file
    • Whether the cardinality of the elements and attributes is correct
    • That only valid XML tags are provided

If the PED is invalid, then an error message is displayed. If the personal extract definition file is valid, then the file is uploaded, and the name of the client application appears in the Client Name field, and the file information is displayed in the File Extension, File Name, and File Size field in the Personal Extract Definition edit page.
