WebCenter Sites 11g Release 1 (11.1.1.8.0) includes the following new and changed features, described in this guide:
New and Changed Features
Updated Admin Interface. WebCenter Sites forms now offer an improved user experience for administrators to create and manage data. This includes a rearrangement of nodes on the administrative tree tabs for more intuitive navigation.
WebCenter Sites Security Cryptography. This new feature provides for secure server access to protect your system from internal or external security attacks. All access is protected through cryptographic encryption of sensitive information whether located in files or within the server itself. See Chapter 7, "Implementing Security Using Cryptography and Encryption Key Storage."
Vanity URLs. This new feature supports short, readable, easy-to-control URLs that typically either contain the name of, or describe the web page to which they point. A vanity URL can be either auto-generated or created by a content contributor in the WebCenter Sites Contributor interface. See Chapter 24, "Configuring Vanity URLs."
WebCenter Content Integration. This new feature is a GUI-controlled connector. Its function is to synchronize documents and digital assets (such as images and videos) from WebCenter Content to WebCenter Sites, where they are managed as native assets. See Part I, "Oracle WebCenter Content Integration" for more information.

This guide consolidates administrator's documentation that was once available in separate books. Topics that have been added to this guide are the following:
Part I, "Administering the Web Experience Management Framework" describes WEM Framework administration through the WEM Admin interface, which supports centralized application management and user authorization. The WEM Framework is used to develop and integrate applications with Oracle WebCenter Sites.
Part I, "Administering Oracle WebCenter Sites: Community-Gadgets" provides instructions on enabling the Community and Gadgets interfaces and contains information about viewing the Community-Gadgets data that is stored in the production and management caches.
Part I, "Administering the Oracle WebCenter Sites: Gadgets Application" contains information about registering gadgets to the global catalog and site gadget catalogs. It also contains instructions for managing registered gadgets.
Part I, "Administering the Community Blog Module" provides administrators with instructions for enabling content providers to use the Community Blogs module to create blogs and modify their author profiles.
Part I, "Implementing Oracle WebCenter Sites: Site Capture" describes the web application for downloading dynamically published websites. It shows you how to navigate the Site Capture application and its file system to manage crawl sessions and downloaded websites.
Part I, "Oracle WebCenter Content Integration"
