Remove an Existing Card From a Server

For specific PCIe card removal instructions, refer to the system service manual and product notes.

  1. Prepare the server for service.

    Refer to your server's service manual.

    1. Remove the server from active operation.
    2. Turn off the server.

      Power down the system.

    3. Disconnect all power cords from the server power supplies.

      Refer to your server's service manual.

    4. Remove the cover from the chassis.

    Electrical

    Caution - Hazardous voltages are present. Disconnect the server from the main power and from any networks before installing the card to avoid electrical shock.


  2. Remove the bracket from the server chassis [1].

    Remove the bracket screw.

  3. Remove the card from the server chassis [2].

    Carefully lift the card out of the PCIe slot to remove the card.


    Hot

    Caution - Hot surface. Avoid contact. Surfaces are hot and might cause personal injury if touched. Hazardous voltages are present.

  4. Install the new card, as required.
