View and Repair Broken Links


After completing this topic, you will be able to view and repair broken links.


Steps:

  1. Open the WordPad Training module.

     

    Double-click the WordPad Training module to open it.

  2. Expand the outline using the toolbar menu.

     

    Click the Expand button.

  3. Display the Broken Links toolpane.

     

    Click the View menu.

  4. Point to the Panes command.

  5. Click the Broken Links command.

  6. Notice that the Broken Links toolpane indicates three missing documents.

     

    The second deleted document is the Using Help section, which was a new document linked to the Document Basics module. A new document that has never been checked into the server is not recoverable and appears as "Missing document" in the outline and Broken Links toolpane.

  7. The other deleted documents are the Saving Documents and Inserting Dates and Objects sections, which are under version control.

     

    The names of deleted documents under version control that have not been purged by the administrator appear in the outline and Broken Links toolpane. These documents are recoverable.

  8. Select the second broken link in the outline.

     

    Click the Missing document link.

  9. The deleted document was never under version control and is not recoverable. You will remove the "Missing document" link from the outline.

  11. Delete the link to the missing document using the toolbar button.

     

    Click the Delete Link button.
