After completing this topic, you will be able to publish content for a PowerPoint presentation.
Steps:
Notice the instructor note for the Using Print Preview topic.
Step 1Close the Properties toolpane.
Click the Close button.
Step 2The Concept pane above shows the topic concept links to a graphic file. The Introduction pane below shows two glossary links in the introduction text.
Step 3Select the Document Basics module.
Click the Document Basics list item.
Step 4Publish the Document Basics module for a PowerPoint presentation.
Click the File menu.
Step 5Click the Publish command.
Step 6Accept the current publishing destination.
Click the Next > button.
Step 7Publish the selected module only.
Click the Publish selection only option.
Step 8Click the Next > button.
Step 9Click the Next > button to publish local content.
Step 10Replace the old content.
Click the Continue button.
Step 11Publish a Presentation.
Click the Presentation option.
Step 12Publish the presentation with the default options.
Click the Publish button.
Step 13Open the publishing folder.
Click the Open the folder where the content was published option.
Step 14Finish publishing.
Click the Finish button.
Step 15Publishing created PowerPoint files (.pptx) for each topic and a play.exe file. You can open a topic in PowerPoint from the publishing folder.
Double-click the Using Print Preview.ppt list item.
Step 16The topic opens in PowerPoint. Notice the instructor note in the Notes pane.
Step 17The topic links to a concept. Concept links appear on the title page. Open the hyperlink.
Right-click the Concept link.
Step 18Click the Open Hyperlink command.
Step 19The linked concept is a graphic in a web page, which opens in a browser window. Close the browser window.
Click the Close button.
Step 20View the second slide.
Click slide 2.
Step 21Notice that the published content contains the two hyperlinks in the introduction.
Step 22Click slide 3.
Step 23This frame contains a frame link, which was included in publishing. The icon links to the attachment.
Step 24Close the PowerPoint application.
Click the Close button.
Step 25Launch the play.exe file.
Double-click the play.exe list item.
Step 26The index page opens showing a table of contents with links to all of the published content. You can use this page to check the output or run demos.
Step 27View the concept for the Printing a Document topic.
Click the Concept link.
Step 28The concept opens in a browser window. Close the browser window.
Click the Close button.
Step 29Launch the Using Print Preview topic.
Click the Using Print Preview link.
Step 30Click the Open button.
Step 31Start the slide show for the topic.
Click the Slide Show tab.
Step 32Click the From Beginning button.
Step 33The topic slide show opens in a browser window. You can run the slideshow in the window or run it full screen.
If you run the slide show in the browser window, clicking the mouse advances to the next slide. You can also advance and reverse navigation through the slide show using the Page Down and Page Up keys or by right-clicking in the slide and using the commands on the context menu.
Step 34View the context menu for the slide show running in the browser window.
Right-click in the slide.
Step 35The PowerPoint context menu provides navigation commands, including the ability to jump to other slides; the option to view speaker notes from the Screen menu; the ability to change pointer options such as type of pointer and ink color; and the option to end the show.
Note: You can also jump to a specific slide by typing the slide number and pressing Enter.
Step 36When you move the mouse pointer in the PowerPoint slide show, the Slide Show toolbar appears in the bottom, left corner of the screen.
Use the arrow icons to move forward and backwards through the slide show, the Pointer icon to change pointer options, and the Menu icon to show the slide show menu.
Step 37View the concept in full screen mode.
Click the Concept link.
Step 38The concept opens in a browser window on top of the full screen slide show. You can close the window to return to the slide show.
Click the Close button.
Step 39Click anywhere in the slide to advance to the next slide.
Step 40Glossary links appear in the slide show.
Click the document link.
Step 41The glossary definition opens in a browser window. Close the window.
Click the Close button.
Step 42Click anywhere in the slide to advance to the next slide.
