Link an Existing Document


After completing this topic, you will be able to link an existing document.


Steps:

  1. Step 1
  2. Link the Using Tables module from the Additional Topics folder in the Library to the WordPad Training module in the outline.

     

    The WordPad Training module is already selected for you.

  4. Click the Link menu.

  5. Click the Existing Document command.

  6. Navigate to the location in which the existing document resides; in this case, the Content/Additional Topics folder.

     

    Double-click the Content folder.

  7. Double-click the Additional Topics folder.

  8. Select the document you want to link to the Document Basics module.

     

    Click the Using Tables module.

  9. Click the Link button.

  10. The Using Tables module is linked to the WordPad Training module and added to the bottom of the documents related to the parent.

     

    Click the Expand button to the left of the Using Tables module.

  11. Linking a parent document also adds all documents linked to the parent to the outline; in this case the Creating a Table topic.

  12. Use the right-click context menu to link an existing topic in the Library to the outline.

     

    Right-click the Opening a Document topic.

  13. Click the Link Existing Document command.

  14. Navigate to the location in which the existing document resides; in this case, the Content/Topics folder.

     

    Double-click the Content folder.

  16. Select the document you want to link to the outline.

     

    Click the Printing a Document topic.

  18. Linking a document with a topic selected, positions the linked document below the topic in the outline and links the document to the selected topic's parent.
