The first step in using the Assessment Coverage view is to select the assessment you want to build or whose coverage you want to examine from the Select an Assessment list. All assessments directly linked as an inline assessment to a parent document (module or section) in the open outline, or associated with a module or section in the outline (through the Assessments property), appear in the Select an Assessment list; however, you can also work with assessments not linked or associated with the outline.

Note: While an assessment is selected in the Assessment Coverage view, it is considered open and cannot be renamed from the Library.

After selecting an assessment, the view shows the Library location of the assessment and a question count, which is the total number of questions and topics (Know It? questions) in the selected assessment. The Open Assessment button opens the selected assessment in the Assessment Editor, where you can see the full assessment and the question order.

Note: You can undo your actions in the Assessment Coverage view until you select a different assessment from the Select an assessment list. Although it is possible to make content changes to the outline in the Assessment Coverage view, such as linking new sections and topics, it is a good idea to reserve those changes for the Player view because the Player view and Assessment Coverage view maintain separate undo lists. If you make outline changes while in the Assessment Coverage view and then change assessments, you will lose the ability to undo your content changes.

Multi-user Considerations

  • The assessment selected in the Assessment Coverage view is considered open and cannot be checked in from the Library. However, if the assessment is linked directly to the outline structure, you can select it from the Outline pane while working in the Assessment Coverage view and check it in.

To select an assessment:

  1. Click the Select an assessment Dropdown.

  2. Select an assessment from the list or click Other and browse the Library to select another assessment.
