5 Using Derby

The Apache Derby database is a demonstration database that ships with WebLogic Server to allow you to use sample user accounts and data.

This chapter contains the following sections:

5.1 About Derby

Derby is the default database when you create a domain with the Configuration Wizard.

Note:

Derby is supported only for the design, development, and verification of applications; it is not supported for enterprise-quality deployment.

The Derby server is started automatically when you start WebLogic Server; it must be running for your applications to access it.
