After completing this topic, you will be able to manually record topics with sound.
Steps:
You have enabled sound for topic recording in the Recorder page of the Options dialog box.
Step 1Record the Hiding and Displaying the Ruler topic with sound.
Click the Record Topic button.
Step 2The Recorder opens with the message to press PrintScreen to begin recording.
Before you start recording the sound, you can use the Sound Tuning Wizard to check or set the playback and recording volumes.
Note: See Adjust Sound Controls in the Edit Sound section for information about using the Sound Tuning Wizard.
Step 3Click the WordPad title bar to activate the application window.
Click the WordPad title bar.
Step 4The first PrintScreen records the sound for the Start frame.
Press [PrintScreen].
Step 5After starting the sound recorder, you can record the audio for the Introduction.
For example, "In this topic, you will learn how to hide and display the ruler."
The VU meter provides a visual indication of the amplitude of your voice.
Step 6If you initially started recording with an incorrect microphone setting, use the Pause button or the designated Pause key to pause the sound recording; then click the Sound Tuning Wizard button and adjust the settings. Finally, click the Record button to restart the recording.
Note: See Adjust Sound Controls under Edit Sound for more information about using the Sound Tuning Wizard.
Note: You can use the Undo button in the Recorder to undo captured steps and record them again with your new sound settings; however, Undo does not remove sound. The frame may contain the both the original and newly recorded sound. After finishing the recording, you can use the Sound Editor to remove the undesired sound segments.
Step 7After recording the audio for the Introduction frame, press PrintScreen to capture the Start screen.
Press [PrintScreen].
Step 8Record the sound for the first step.
For example, "To hide the ruler, click the View menu."
Note: You can use the Pause button or the designated Pause key to pause the sound recording at any time.
Step 9Perform the step.
Click the View menu.
Step 10Press PrintScreen to capture the action of clicking the View menu.
Press [PrintScreen].
Step 11Record the sound for the next step.
For example, "Click the Ruler command."
Step 12Perform the step.
Click the Ruler command.
Step 13Press PrintScreen to capture the action of clicking the Ruler command.
Press [PrintScreen].
Step 14Record the sound for the next step.
For example, "The ruler is hidden. To display the ruler, click the View menu."
Step 15Perform the step.
Click the View menu.
Step 16Press PrintScreen to capture the action of clicking the View menu.
Press [PrintScreen].
Step 17Record the sound for the next step.
For example, "Click the Ruler command."
Step 18Perform the step.
Click the Ruler command.
Step 19Press PrintScreen to capture the action of clicking the Ruler command.
Press [PrintScreen].
Step 20Record the sound for the End frame.
For example, "You now know how to hide and display the ruler."
Step 21After recording the sound for the End frame, end the topic recording.
Click Finish.
Step 22After completing this topic, you are able to manually record topics with sound.
