Preface

This manual provides supplementary reference information about migrating a database from Microsoft Access 97, 2000, XP (2002), 2003, or 2007 to Oracle. It describes several differences between Microsoft Access and Oracle. It also outlines how those differences are dealt with by the Oracle SQL Developer during the conversion process.

Audience

This reference guide is intended for anyone who is involved in migrating a Microsoft Access database to Oracle using SQL Developer.

You should be familiar with relational database concepts. You should also be familiar with the operating system environments where you are running Microsoft Access and Oracle.

Convention Meaning
boldface Boldface type indicates graphical user interface elements associated with an action, or terms defined in text.
italic Italic type indicates book titles, emphasis, or placeholder variables for which you supply particular values.
monospace Monospace type indicates commands within a paragraph, URLs, code in examples, text that appears on the screen, or text that you enter.
