Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse Installation Guide

This document provides information on installing Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse (OEPE). It contains the following sections:

Install from an Existing Installation of Eclipse

You can install Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse into an existing installation of Eclipse 4.4 (Luna):

How to Update Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse from the Help Menu

You can update Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse from the Help menu, after you specify the correct site for downloading the updated version.

Attempting to install from multiple software sites with Install New Software can cause problems. Before installing new software, you must deselect all but the appropriate site, titled Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse.

To select the appropriate site:

  1. Select Window > Preferences, then expand the category Install/Update.

  2. Select Available Software Sites.

  3. In the list of Available Software Sites, deselect all sites except the one named Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse, then click OK.

You can now use the Install New Software feature of Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse to install the update.

To update Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse:

  1. Select Help > Install New Software.

  2. In the Work With field, click the drop-down arrow to select the site named Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse.

  3. In the Name pane, expand the category for Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse.

  4. Select the features you wish to install.


    Note:

    Make sure you select Oracle MAF Runtime and Oracle MAF Design Time Tools, in the version to which you are updating Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse. If you also select Oracle MAF Documentation and Oracle MAF Tools Examples, make sure that they are of the same version as the Runtime and Design Time Tools you are installing.


  5. When you have selected all the features you wish to install, click Next.

  6. Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse checks your selections for validity and for selection errors. If the installation contains errors, change your selection to resolve them before continuing.

  7. When you have made your selections, click Finish.

Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse downloads and installs the features you have selected. You will be prompted to restart OEPE to complete the installation.

How to Install Using a Local Repository Archive

Install from a local repository on the Oracle Technology Network (OTN).

To install Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse using the repository archive:

  1. From the OTN web site: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/eclipse/downloads/index.html, download oepe-luna-repository.zip.

  2. From the Eclipse main menu, select Help > Install New Software.

  3. Click Add to add a new update site.

  4. In the Add Repository dialog, click Archive.

  5. In the Repository Archive dialog, navigate to the Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse plugins zip file and select it.

  6. In the software list, select Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse, verify that all of the subcomponents are selected, and then click Next.

  7. Confirm information presented on the Install Details page, and then click Next.

  8. Review licenses on the Review Licenses page and click Finish.

How to Install Using the Remote Repository

Use the Install New Software feature from the remote repository.

To install using the remote repository:

  1. From the Eclipse main menu, select Help > Install New Software.

  2. Click Add to add a new update site.

  3. In the Add Repository dialog, enter the location http://download.oracle.com/otn_software/oepe/12.1.3.2/luna/repository.

    Then click OK.

    Note: This URL works only from within Eclipse, and will not work if accessed through a browser.

  4. In the software list, select Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse, verify that all of the subcomponents are selected, and then click Next.

  5. Confirm information presented on the Install Details, and then click Next.

  6. Review licenses on the Review Licenses page and click Finish.

Installing with the Distro

The distro is a zip archive that contains Eclipse with the Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse plugins already loaded.

To install using the distro:

  1. From the Oracle Technology Network (OTN) web site: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/eclipse/downloads/index.html, download the archive file appropriate for your operating system and Eclipse version.

  2. Extract the archive file to a folder of your choice.

Installing with Eclipse Marketplace

If you already have an installation of Eclipse, you can install Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse using Eclipse Marketplace.


Note:

If you want a specific version of Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse do not use this option. The Eclipse Marketplace only allows you to install the latest Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse version for a given Eclipse platform.


To install using Eclipse Marketplace:

  1. In Eclipse, choose Help > Eclipse Marketplace.

  2. In the Eclipse Marketplace dialog, search for Oracle. The Marketplace returns all Oracle entries, such as Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse, and Oracle Cloud Tools. You can choose to install Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse, which includes all the features, or just the specific components you want.

  3. Choose the appropriate version of Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse for the version of Eclipse you are using. For example, if you are using Eclipse Luna, choose Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse Luna. Click Install.

  4. On the next page, the features that will be installed are listed. Click Confirm.

  5. On the Review Licenses page, accept the terms of the license agreements and click Finish.

    The software is installed. You can choose to run the installation in the background by clicking Run in Background.
