Intermixing drives in 61x0, CSM2, 25xx, and 25xx-M2 trays is supported. However, the following limitations apply to mixed drives within a pool.
New volumes made up of mixed capacity drives will utilize the same capacity as that of the smallest disk. Disks with larger capacity will have under-utilized space.
Spindle speed match (SSM). You can mix 10K and 15K drives, but you cannot mix 7200 with 10K and 15K drives.
Volumes can be made up of different spindle speeds; however, it is recommended that this not be done.If a volume is made up of drives with varying spindle speeds, the performance could be as slow as the slowest drive in the volume.
