Connect the Controllers to the Drive Enclosures

Caution
Use the Drive Enclosure strings that were assigned during the manufacturing process. The build map that is included in the shipment provides information about the assignment of Drive Enclosure strings. Additionally, the labels on the SAS cables also identify the Drive Enclosure strings.
Note: For each string, cabling the Controllers to the Drive Enclosure strings follows the same, logical sequence. The following steps provide the proper sequence for cabling the Controllers to string 1. String 1, in this example, contains five Drive Enclosures.
  1. Slide the Controllers into the service position.
  2. Cable Controller 1 to the first Drive Enclosure in the string.
    1. Connect the end of the cable labeled “CU 1 PCIE3-0” to port 0 in the PCIe3 slot on Controller 1.
    2. Route the cable through the CMA.
    3. Connect the other end of the cable, labeled “DE-1 IOM0-0,” to port 0 in I/O module 0 on Drive Enclosure 1.
  3. Cable Controller 2 to the third Drive Enclosure in the string.
    1. Connect the end of the cable labeled “CU 2 PCIE3-0” to port 0 in the PCIe3 slot on Controller 2.
    2. Route the cable through the CMA.
    3. Connect the other end of the cable, labeled “DE-3 IOM1-0,” to port 0 in I/O module 1 on Drive Enclosure 3.
  4. If your Oracle FS System is configured with two or more SAS HBAs, continue to follow the information on the cable labels to connect and route the Controller nodes to the remaining Drive Enclosure strings.

When you are finished, return the Controllers to the rack position.

Refer to the wiring diagrams for guidance when cabling the Controller nodes to the Drive Enclosure strings.
