Overview

The Oracle NoSQL Database C interface is a new feature as of release 2.0 of Oracle NoSQL Database. It provides client access to the database. It uses the Java Native Interface (JNI) to access the Java client interface and therefore requires a JVM on the C client as well. This version (4.4.6) of the interface requires at least version 12.1.4.3 of the Oracle NoSQL Database and installation of a Java 7 JDK.

This is a source distribution and requires compilation to use. See the documentation and examples for additional information.

A complete and detailed list of changes in this release can be found in the change log page.

Known Issues

This version of the interface may not build or run correctly on OS X using Java 7. At this time CMake cannot find and use Java 7 on the Mac. It may find Java 6, which will build but will also generate a runtime error, indicating an incompatible Java version.

Because the Avro C library does not support default values in an Avro schema use of default values will not work from the C interface. This also has implications for Avro schema evolution, which requires use of default values. Careful testing must be done to ensure Avro interoperability where default values are used.
