Live Tiles

A Tile is an image that represents your app on the Start screen. The Windows Dev Center topic Tiles for Windows Phone 8 provides more details about this Windows Phone UI element.

Live Tiles:

Example - pushio_config.json with tileHosts:

{
   "pushio":{
      "apiKey":"API_KEY",
      "apiHost":"api.pushio.com"
   },
   "security":{
      "tileHosts":["myserver.com","cdn.myotherserver.com"]
   }
}

Secondary Live Tiles:

Secondary live tiles are also pushed using the Push IO API, but contain an additional piece of information, the Tile ID. The following code creates a live tile that points to page2.xaml:

StandardTileData newTileData = new StandardTileData
 {
     Title = "Secondary Tile",
     BackTitle = "Back of Tile",
     BackContent = "The Back!",
 };
 ShellTile.Create(new Uri("/Page2.xaml?DefaultTitle=Page2", UriKind.Relative), newTileData);

To push a notification to this tile, send the Tile ID of "Page2.xaml?DefaultTitle=Page2" with the push.
