Uploading Multiple Posts in Publish

    In Publish, you not only can create one post at a time, but you can also schedule and publish multiple posts at once. You can upload multiple posts by using a CSV spreadsheet.

    Uploading Posts Button

    You'll find the Upload Posts button on the Posts tab, in the ellipsis next to the Create a Post icon.

    When you click Upload Posts, a dialog box will open, allowing you to download a sample CSV file and upload instructions for the CSV.

    Note: Your CSV file must be be in UTF-8 format or you will get an error when uploading.

    Formatting Your CSV

    To have your posts be uploaded to Publish successfully, you will need to fill out the template spreadsheet according to the following rules:

    SCHEDULED DATE

    If you want the post to be scheduled, enter the date you want the post published in this format:

    MM/DD/YYYY or MM/DD/YY

    This field is required if you enter the post’s status as schedule or scheduled.

    SCHEDULED TIME

    If you want the post to be scheduled, enter the time you want the post published in this format:

    HH:MM - in military time
    To determine what military time would be, for any time after noon, take the actual time and add 12 to the hour. For example, to publish your post at 1:30PM, enter 13:30. 11AM would be 11:00. You can also check this handy military time chart.

    This field is required if you enter the post’s status as schedule or scheduled.

    Note: The time will correspond to your time zone that is set in Workflow & Automation.

    POST NAME

    Give your post a name. This can be anything you want - it’ll help you find your post in the Post Grid or in Analytics later.

    This field is only required if an admin on your account has set this field as required.

    POST CONTENT

    Enter the content of your post.

    This field is only required if you are not including a media URL.

    TAGS

    Enter any SRM tags you want to add to your post.

    Note: You can only use tags that have already been created or imported in Publish. If you are using multiple tags, there are different ways to format your tags so they are added properly.

    • If you open the CSV in a text editor like Notepad, you will need to add quotation marks around the tags.
      For example: "tag1", "tag2".
    • If you open the CSV in a spreadsheet editor like Excel, do not add quotation marks around the tags.

    MEDIA URL

    If you want to include media in your post, it will need to be hosted online. Enter the URL of the media in this format:

    http://xx.xxx.xx

    This field is only required if you are not including any post content.

    Note: If you include a media URL and a content URL, the media URL will be the image that is used.

    CONTENT URL

    If you want to include a URL in your post, enter it here. Enter the URL in this format:

    http://xx.xxx.xx

    This field is not required.

    USE CONTENT URL IMAGE IN POST

    If you enter a Content URL, you can select whether you want your post to use an image scraped from the Content URL. Enter:

    • Y to include an image
    • N to not include an image

    Note: If you have a media URL and a content URL, the media URL will be the image that is used, even if you have a N in this column.

    STATUS

    Enter the status of how you want the post published from one of the following statuses:

    • draft - saves your post as a draft
    • schedule (can also use scheduled) - schedules your post for the day and time you entered
    • publish - publishes the post immediately

    This field is required for all posts.

    SOCIAL NETWORK

    Enter the name of the social network you want the post published to from one of the following options:

    • facebook
    • twitter
    • google+ (can also use "google" for this network)
    • linkedin

    This field is required for all posts.

    Note: You can only enter one social network per row in the spreadsheet. If you want to publish a post to multiple social networks, copy the post info into another row and change the social network.

    STREAM NAME

    Enter the name of the stream you want the post published to.

    This field is required for all posts.

    Note: This name must match the name of the stream as it is entered in SRM. If you aren’t sure of the exact stream name, please check the stream’s page in Workflow & Automation.

    Note: Post Layouts

    • Twitter and Facebook posts you upload using this CSV will follow the preferences your admin has set for your social networks in the Publish Admin tab. .
    • Google+ posts will be published as a large photo format post.
    • LinkedIn posts will be published as a link post.
    • Uploading Your CSV

      Once you are finished entering in all your post information, save the template CSV under a new name, return to the Upload Posts dialog and select the new CSV. Click Upload and your posts will start processing.

      When your posts have finished uploading, you’ll receive an email showing you how many posts were succesfully uploaded, how many had errors and couldn’t be uploaded, and an attached spreadsheet showing exactly the errors those posts had.
