Retiring a Tag Key Definition

Retire a tag key definitions using the Console, CLI, or API.

    1. On the Tag namespaces list page, select the namespace that you want to work with. If you need help finding the list page, see Listing Tag Namespaces.
    2. On the Tag namespace details page, in the Tag key definitions section, select the tag key definitions you want to retire.
      Important

      If the tag is a cost-tracking tag, disable the cost-tracking switch. If you don't disable cost-tracking, this tag still counts against the tenancy maximum of 10 cost-tracking tags, even after it's retired. For more information, see Using Cost-Tracking Tags.
    3. From the Actions menu, select Retire.
    4. In the Retire selected tag key definitions dialog box, select Retire.
      Or, use the Actions menu (three dots) to retire a single tag key definition.
  • Use the retire command and required parameters to retire a tag:

    oci iam tag retire [OPTIONS]

  • UpdateTag - updates the tag key definition (use this operation to retire or reactivate a tag key).
