Specifying Number Formatting Preferences

You can specify number formats, such as how to display thousands, decimals, and negative numbers in forms. Your selections apply to all currencies, in all forms that you have access to in the current application.

You can set these options:

  • The thousands separator

  • The decimal separator

  • The display of negative numbers (a Minus sign before the number (Prefixed), after the number (Suffixed), the number surrounded by parentheses, or use the Currency Setting)

  • The displayed color for negative numbers

To change the format of displayed numbers:

  1. On the Home page, click Application, and then click Settings.
  2. From the Application Settings page, under Number Formatting, select format options:
    Option Example
    Thousands Separator

    You can enter values with or without a thousands separator.

    None: 1000

    Comma: 1,000

    Dot: 1.000

    Space: 1 000

    Underscore 1_000

    Currency Setting

    Decimal Separator

    You can enter values with or without a decimal separator.

    Dot: 1000.00

    Comma: 1000,00

    Space: 1 000

    Underscore 1_000

    Currency Setting

    Negative Sign

    Prefixed Minus: -1000

    Suffixed Minus: 1000-

    Parentheses: (1000)

    Currency Setting

    Negative Color

    Black: Negative numbers are black

    Red: Negative numbers are red

    Currency Setting: Negative numbers use the Currency setting.

  3. Click Save.

    Note:

    Formatting selections take effect when you click outside the cell. If you select a setting other than Use Application Defaults for the Thousands separator or the Decimal separator, you must change both separators. You cannot select the same option for the Thousands and Decimal separators.
