Preface

This guide provides step-by-step procedures to help you install and deinstall Oracle Real Application Clusters Guard.

Intended Audience

This guide is intended for anyone who needs to perform the initial setup and installation of Oracle Real Application Clusters Guard on Windows NT and Windows 2000 systems.

In general, this book defines technical terms and concepts when they are introduced. However, it assumes that you know the underlying operating system and are familiar with basic system administration tasks. Also, you should be familiar with Microsoft Cluster Server (MSCS), Oracle Net, and management of Oracle Real Application Clusters databases on Windows systems.

Structure

This guide contains five chapters, two appendixes, and an index.

Chapter 1 explains the process of setting up and installing Oracle Real Application Clusters Guard.

Chapter 2 provides step-by-step instructions for installing Oracle Real Application Clusters Guard software.

Chapter 3 describes how to start Oracle Real Application Clusters Guard Manager and connect to a cluster.

Chapter 4 describes how to deinstall Oracle Real Application Clusters Guard software.

Chapter 5 helps you to diagnose and troubleshoot problems that might occur during installations and deinstallations.

Appendix A describes how to automate the Oracle Real Application Clusters Guard installation by performing a silent installation.

Appendix B describes how to manually register and unregister the Oracle resource DLL files with the MSCS software.

Menu -> Option

The right arrow indicates an abbreviated instruction for choosing a menu option or submenu option. The following example means pull down the View menu, move the pointer to pull down the Image submenu, and choose the Refresh option:

monospace text 

File names, directories, and URLs appear in a monospace font. Also, monospace characters in text preceding a code example indicate a file name or keyword used in the sample code.
