Database files like sid.DBS.CONTROL.DBF, sid.DBS.DATABASE1.DBF or sid.DBS.LOG1.DBF. Contain the entire Oracle database including data dictionary, user tables, log files etc.
Parameter file used when instance is started.
Environment file containing user environment. Always to be executed before start of an instance or an application: /DO sid.P.ORAENV.
ENTER job for the purpose of starting background processes (using $ORACL817.DEMO.P.ENTER). xxxx identifies the background process.
Temporary files of server processes containing runtime information. When tasks finish orderly these files are cancelled, otherwise not. Can help diagnosis and may then be removed.
Runtime listings of background processes identified by xxxx. After a new instance start the preceeding listings are renamed *.OLD. So always the listings of the current and the preceeding instance are available.
Runtime listing documenting the start of a Net8 process. When process finishs orderly listings are removed (except TNS_KEEP_SYSOUT=Y is specified in sid.P.ORAENV for diagnosis purposes). xxxx corresponds with the identifier of Net8 background jobs.
All errors encountered in Oracle network products are appended to a log file. The default directory path on BS2000/OSD is network.log. For more informations about Net8 log files please refere to the Net8 Administrator's Guide chapter 11 'Troubleshooting Net8'.
Log of significant events and errors of the database. Continued if already existing, otherwise created. Valueable for diagnosis, should not be removed.

Trace of errors in UTM-Oracle cooperation, created when errors occur. NULL can be replaced by a db_name when specified in the open string.
