This document summarizes the differences between the Oracle Calendar web client and its documented functionality.

1 Certification and System Requirements


Note:

If you are using Netscape, version 6.0 or higher is recommended. If you are using Internet Explorer, make sure you are using version 5.0 or higher.


2 General Issues and Workarounds

2.1 Issues using Netscape

2.1.1 Netscape 4x

Users may experience display problems and erratic behavior.

2.1.2 Netscape 6.2

When printing from the web client some of the text may not print properly.

Suggested workaround:

  1. Click Tools|Edit Preferences|Display.

  2. Set the margin size to 1 inch in the Printer-Friendly Format section

2.2 Issues using Mozilla

When using Mozilla 1x users may experience display problems and erratic behavior.

2.3 Meeting entries

Line breaks are not shown in the Details section of Meeting entries.

2.4 Repeating entries

When the first instance date of a Repeating entry does not match the default date on the General page, the default date will not be updated to reflect the Repeating date.

3 Configuration Issues and Workarounds

This section describes configuration issues and their workarounds for the Oracle Calendar web client.

3.1 Oracle Calendar server settings

Setting the mail parameter in unison.ini (Oracle Calendar server configuration file) to FALSE has no effect on the Oracle Calendar web client.

3.2 FastCGI

3.2.1 Setting FastCgiServer parameters

If the values for certain FastCGI parameters are too low, you may experience performance problems at startup.

Suggested workaround: Set the following in parameters in $ORACLE_HOME/Apache/Apache/conf/ocal.conf:

3.2.2 Orphan processes

The Oracle Calendar web client will occasionally generate orphan processes that are not terminated automatically.

Suggested workaround: GREP for processes with a parent PID of 1 in /fcgi-bin/owc/lexacal.fcgi; then run KILL on those processes.
