Oracle Collaboration Suite Installations

This chapter guides you through the installation steps for Oracle Collaboration Suite. Oracle Corporation recommends that you perform the steps in this order:

Before You Install

Ensure that you first complete the installation procedures described in "Starting Oracle Universal Installer", which:

Completion of those procedures enables you to access the installation procedures described in this chapter.

Installing Oracle9iAS Infrastructure

One of the following screens appears after you click Next on the File Locations screen at step 9:

  1. Enter the Oracle Internet Directory super user name and password.

  2. Click Next.

The Oracle Infrastructure Database screen appears.

  3. Enter the SYS password for the existing Oracle9iAS Infrastructure.

The default SYS password is change_on_install.

  4. Click Next.

The Stop 9iAS Infrastructure Database screen appears.

  5. Stop all existing Oracle9iAS Infrastructure processes.

    See Also:

    "Accessing Windows Services"

  6. Click Next.

The Summary screen appears if you are upgrading an existing Oracle9iAS Infrastructure. Go to step 17.

  7. Select the configuration that meets your needs.

This screen offers two options labeled accept default selection and specify your choice:

    • Click accept default selection to install and configure Oracle9iAS Metadata Repository, Oracle Internet Directory, and Oracle9iAS Single Sign-On automatically at the end of the installation process. Go to step 8.

    • Click specify your choice to configure this installation to meet your needs. To use an existing Oracle Internet Directory or Oracle9iAS Single Sign-On server, deselect these options. To configure Oracle Management Server, select it. Refer to "Oracle9iAS Infrastructure Deployment" for more information. Go to step 8.

If you select an Oracle9iAS Infrastructure component, then Oracle Universal Installer starts and configures it after installation. If you deselect a component, Oracle Universal Installer installs it but does not configure or start it. If you decide to use that component at a later time, then start the Oracle Enterprise Manager Web Site to configure that component.

    Note:

    • Oracle Internet Directory and Oracle9iAS Single Sign-On are required installations. These components must be configured somewhere in your network.

    • Oracle9iAS Metadata Repository is always configured and started automatically during Oracle9iAS Infrastructure installation. You cannot deselect it.

  8. Click Next.

    • The Create Instance Name and ias_admin Password screen appears if this is the first Oracle9iAS Infrastructure installation on this host. Go to step 13.

    • The Existing Oracle9iAS Single Sign-On screen appears if you did not configure Oracle Internet Directory and chose to configure Oracle9iAS Metadata Repository, or Oracle Management Server, or both. Go to step 9.

    • The Existing Oracle Internet Directory screen appears if you did not configure Oracle Internet Directory and you chose to configure Oracle9iAS Single Sign-On. Go to step 10.

  9. Enter the host name and port number for the existing instance of Oracle9iAS Single Sign-On that you want to use with this installation of Oracle9iAS Infrastructure. Go to step 11.

    Note:

If you do not have Oracle9iAS Single Sign-On installed, return to the Select Configuration Options screen and select the default configuration option for Oracle9iAS Single Sign-On. Go to step 13.

  10. Enter the host name, port number, username, and password for the existing instance of Oracle Internet Directory that you want to use with this installation of Oracle9iAS Infrastructure. Go to step 11.

    Note:

If you do not have Oracle Internet Directory installed, return to the Select Configuration Options screen and select the default configuration option for Oracle Internet Directory. Go to step 13.

  11. Click Next.

    • The Create Instance Name screen appears if a previous Oracle9iAS Infrastructure installation is detected on this host, but in a different Oracle home. Go to step 12.

    • The Create Instance Name and ias_admin Password screen appears if this is the first Oracle9iAS Infrastructure installation on this host. Go to step 13.

  12. Enter a unique instance name and the existing ias_admin password for this host to continue with the installation. The instance name must contain alphanumeric and underscore characters only. Go to step 14.

If you forget your ias_admin users password following installation, refer to the Oracle9i Application Server Administrator's Guide for the steps you can follow to reset the password. This document is available on the Oracle Technology Network at

    http://otn.oracle.com

  13. Enter the required information. Go to step 14 when finished.

  14. Click Next.

The Database Character Set screen appears.

  15. Select the database character set you want to use:

  16. Click Next.

    The Summary screen appears.

  17. Review the Summary screen, which displays all your settings before the installation begins. These settings include source, destination, installation type, product language, install file sizes, and a list of Oracle9iAS Infrastructure components. Click Previous to make changes to any of these settings on the respective screens.

    Note:

Insufficient disk space is indicated in red under Space Requirements.

  18. Click Install to begin the installation process.

The Install screen appears while installing the components. The Install screen shows installation operations, including actions such as file copy and linking, and executing decision points and calculations. It also displays the full path of the installation log.

Cancel discontinues the installation process. You can then choose to stop the installation of an individual component or the entire product.

  19. Insert additional disks, as prompted, if you are installing from the CD-ROMs.

The Configuration Tools screen appears. The screen lists the configuration tools for all installed components. Depending on the configurations selected, you see some component configuration screens, but no input is required.

  20. Review the status of Oracle9iAS Infrastructure configuration tools.

Oracle Universal Installer executes a configuration tool for each component selected previously in the Select Configuration Options screen.

In this screen you can also stop a specific configuration process or view data for failed executions. You can either fix the error and click Retry to execute the configuration tool again, or ignore the error. Click Stop to quit the configuration process.

  21. Click Next.

The End of Installation screen appears.

This screen displays the URL and port number for accessing the Oracle HTTP Server page and the Oracle Enterprise Manager Web Site. The default Oracle HTTP Server page is the Oracle Collaboration Suite Welcome page, which provides links to component demonstrations, default port allocations, and information about new features.

  22. Review the End of Installation screen.

Installing Oracle Collaboration Suite Information Storage

Ensure that you have already installed Oracle9iAS Infrastructure.

The Database Configuration Types screen appears after you click Next on the File Locations screen at step 9. Follow these procedures to install an information storage database.

  1. Select the configuration that meets your needs:

If You select... Then Oracle Universal Installer...

    Email Store

This sets the password to ctxsys and unlocks the CTXSYS account.

SQL> CONNECT ctxsys/ctxsys
SQL> EXIT

Note:

After installing the Oracle Collaboration Suite middle tier, you must complete additional Oracle Email procedures by following the instructions in the Oracle Email Administrator's Guide Addendum and Oracle Email Administrator's Guide Addendum. Refer to Table 5-1 for more details.
