The following topics introduce the new and changed features of WebLogic Java API for XML Web Services (JAX-WS) Web services in Oracle Fusion Middleware 12c (12.1.2), and provides pointers to additional information.
For 12c (12.1.2), the contents of the following guides, delivered in Oracle Fusion Middleware Release 11g, have been merged into this single document:
Getting Started With JAX-WS Web Services for Oracle WebLogic Server
Programming Advanced Features of JAX-WS Web Services for Oracle WebLogic Server
Oracle Fusion Middleware 12c (12.1.2) includes the following new and changed features for this document:
Fast Infoset, a compressed binary encoding format that provides a more efficient serialization than the text-based XML format. Fast Infoset optimizes both document size and processing performance. See: Chapter 16, "Optimizing XML Transmission Using Fast Infoset".
SOAP over Java Messaging Service (JMS) transport as a connection protocol option, enabling Web services and client to communicate using JMS destinations instead of HTTP connections. See Chapter 17, "Using SOAP Over JMS Transport".
New standalone Web service client JAR files that support basic JAX-WS client-side functionality and Oracle Web Services Manager (OWSM) security policy support. See Invoking a Web Service from a Standalone Java SE Client..
Enhanced Web Services Test Client for testing advanced features of Web services. See Testing Web Services.
Note:
The WebLogic Server 12.1.2 JAX-WS WS-ReliableMessaging implementation is generally not recommended for production purposes and has been disabled by default. Customers seeking to use JAX-WS WS-ReliableMessaging in WebLogic Server 12.1.2 for evaluation purposes, or customers who require use of JAX-WS WS-ReliableMessaging functionality in production, should contact Oracle Customer Support. See Chapter 14, "Using Web Services Reliable Messaging."
