Execute Process Manufacturing Work Orders at Workstations

Process manufacturing is used by a segment of manufacturers in industries, such as consumer packaged goods, where the finished product cannot be broken down into its ingredients, and the production method requires ways to manage variability that is inherent in materials and processes. With this update for process manufacturing, you can perform all operation actions that were previously applicable only to discrete manufacturing work orders in the operator workbench, and track work order progress against the production targets. Additionally, you can:

  • Complete multiple co-products and by-products with lot information into an inventory or expense location.
  • Issue materials corresponding to primary products or co-products for an operation.
  • Inspect products, co-products, and by-products based on the inspection plan for an operation.
  • Perform product completion at any operation to complete the primary product or co-products.
  • Report ad hoc outputs for any operation during completion.

Perform real-time work execution for the process manufacturing work method through a single user interface that provides a smooth and intuitive digital experience. Operators can focus on their manufacturing tasks with convenient access to all the information required to efficiently perform these tasks.

Here's the demo of these capabilities:

Steps to Enable

Use the Opt In UI to enable this feature. For instructions, refer to the Optional Uptake of New Features section of this document.

Offering: Manufacturing and Supply Chain Materials ManagementNo Longer Optional From: Update 25D

Tips And Considerations

  • When a process work order is released, the batch quantity of the process work order is shown as the Ready quantity for the first count point operation.
  • Quantity Reporting for a process work order (Complete, Reject or Scrap) updates the work order operation quantities for the process work order.
  • The Minimum Transfer Quantity mentioned in the work definition is defaulted as 'Complete' in Quantity Reporting.

Key Resources

Access Requirements

Users who are assigned a configured job role that contains the following privileges can report scrap quantities during execution at a workstation:

  • Use REST Service - Guided Journeys Read Only (PER_REST_SERVICE_ACCESS_GUIDED_JOURNEYS_RO_PRIV)

These privileges were available prior to this update.

In addition to the preceding privileges, you should have the following data security configured for your role and user:

  • Manufacturing plant data security: Set the security context value for the manufacturing plant to the manufacturing organization.
  • Item class data security configured with the View Item Basic action set to allowed.
