Automotive Service Requests
As the Quality Manager for an automobile manufacturer, you are interested in finding out the nature of service requests from your customers. Details such as model, year, type of problem (AC not working, engine light comes on, etc.), cost of repairs, and time to repair are of interest to you.
You can log in such information when a service request is first lodged, either by the owner or a dealership.
Setup
Based upon the above information, you have determined that you must create a XXX collection plan that includes the following collection elements:
Collection Elements
Of the collection elements listed above, #. See: Collection Elements.
Specifications
No specification is required.
Collection Element and Collection Plan Element Values
You can define lists of values or SQL validation statements for the required predefined attribute collection elements (XX) and for your user-defined collection elements. Lists of values can be defined at the collection element level and copied to their corresponding collection plan elements. However, you can also define unique lists of values for the collection plan elements. For example, the list of values for the XX collection plan elements XX are unique to only this collection plan. See Defining Collection Element Values and See: Defining Collection Plan Element Values.
Collection Plan
Next, create the "XX" collection plan. The collection plan can be assigned any collection plan type. It must have the required collection elements added to it. All user-defined collection elements, should be defined as displayed and mandatory. etc..
Collection Plan Element Actions
Next, define appropriate actions for each of your collection plan elements. For example, etc.. See: Defining Collection Element Actions.
Transactions
Next, associate the XX collection plan with the Service Request collection transaction. The transaction should be set to mandatory and enabled. To ensure that quality data is collected before the service request is saved. See: Associating Transactions with Collection Plans
Specification Type
Last, assign a default specification type to the collection plan, in this case an item specification. Assigning a default specification type ensures that an appropriate specification can be chosen during quality data collection. See: Associating Specification Types with Collection Plans
