How Does iFS Work? | ||||||||||
Oracle iFS acts like a bridge between the personal computer and the Oracle8i database. The user maps a network drive to the iFS server and the rest of the work is done by iFS.
When the user moves a file onto the iFS drive, iFS converts it into a database object and transfers it to the repository. When the user opens a file on the iFS drive, iFS converts the file into a form the personal computer can read and transfers it back. |
