Measure folders provide a means of grouping measures related to a particular business activity, such as finance or sales. These measures will typically be used together in applications tailored to the needs of a particular user group, such as marketing managers or financial advisors. Applications restrict their view of the database to a particular measure folder rather than a particular database schema. The measures in a folder can be associated with any number of different schemas.
Measure folders exist exclusively in the metadata. There are no corresponding objects in the data warehouse. They do not belong to any schema, so anyone can view them. However, only the creator of a measure folder (or those with administrative privileges) can modify or delete it.
