This illustration shows the Data Guard architecture consisting of a primary site and multiple standby sites. At the top of this figure, there is a terminal displayed to represent the user interfaces for managing the Data Guard environment: the Data Guard command-line interface and the Oracle Data Guard Manager graphical user interface.

On the primary site, this figure includes the log transport services in addition to the following main components: the primary database, Oracle Data Guard broker, the online redo logs, and the archived redo logs. This figure also shows the online redo logs archiving to the standby sites through Oracle Net connections.

Standby Site 1, which is representative of all the standby sites in this configuration, includes the following components: a standby database, the log apply services, Oracle Data Guard broker, archived redo logs, and standby redo logs.
