This illustration shows the log transport services and log apply services in a typical two-site Data Guard configuration that is in managed recovery mode. As read/write transactions are made to the primary database (in San Francisco) and written to the online redo logs and local archived redo logs, the log transport services also archive the logs through Oracle Net to the standby site (in Boston). In Boston, the log apply services apply the archived redo logs to the standby database.
