This is a text description of sslsecur.gif, which shows SSL secured communications between a client on the Internet and Oracle9i Application Server within an intranet. From the leftmost side of the diagram and moving to the right, there are icons as follows: On the left is an icon that represents an Oracle client. The Oracle client is communicating with the Internet, represented by a cloud, over SSL and HTTP, or secure HTTPS. In turn, the Internet communicates through a firewall with Oracle9i Application Server. Then Oracle9i Application Server through another firewall (there are firewalls on both sides of the application server) communicates with an Oracle9i Data Server at the backend. The communication between the application server and the database occurs over Oracle Net and SSL.
