Oracle8i Cache improves the performance and scalability of multiple-tier applications that access data from an Oracle® database. Because Oracle8i Cache stores frequently accessed data on the middle tier, queries are processed more quickly and application throughput is increased. Satisfying common queries on the middle tier reduces network round trips to the origin database and allows the origin database to support more users. Oracle8i Cache is ideal for applications, such as Web-based catalogs, that generate mostly read requests to the database.
