You'll encounter more information about Enterprise Manager's architecture later in this Quick Tour (in "How Enterprise Manager Works").

Architecture |
- Enterprise Manager's three tiers are: the Console, Management Servers, and Intelligent Agents on network nodes.
- The Console and other client applications may be run locally, or be
deployed from a web browser.
- Management Servers provide distributed control between clients
and managed nodes, and process system management tasks.
- Management Servers use a centralized repository to
store data.
- An Intelligent Agent is installed on each managed node to execute
jobs and monitor events sent by the Management Server.
- Multiple Management Servers can share a single repository to balance larger workloads.
- Organizations which have separate teams of administrators can have independent repositories and corresponding management servers for each team.
