Behind the scenes, Julie and her team use Oracle Enterprise Manager to monitor and manage both the application server and the back-end database server. For network encryption and authentication, Oracle Identity Management provides a comprehensive suite of security services, including Oracle Application Server Single Sign-On, Oracle Internet Directory, and Oracle Application Server Certificate Authority. The single sign-on server validates user credentials against Oracle Internet Directory, an LDAP directory service. Also, SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) encryption can be used to protect these transactions from malicious intrusion. Using single sign-on, employees at myCompany only enter their login credentials once to gain access to corporate intranet resources.
