26 XML Applications

XML applications define page elements by function rather than as discrete objects. Consequently, XML pages can be interpreted differently at runtime depending on the client. Using XSLT (Extensible Stylesheet Language Transformations), displayed information adopts a different look and feel without changing the underlying logic. This is a powerful and efficient method of delivering the same information through multiple media, including hand-held devices. The Oracle XML Developer Kits contain XML component libraries and utilities for Java, JavaBeans, PL/SQL, C, and C++. You can use these to XML-enable applications and Web sites.
