Types of Portlets

The OracleAS Portal out-of-the-box solution includes both pre-built portlets and partner portlets from members of the Oracle Partner Network. Many Oracle products also provide portlets for use within OracleAS Portal: the Oracle Business Intelligence Discoverer Portlet Provider, for example, allows you to add OracleBI Discoverer content to your portal pages. Pre-built portlets include search, login/logout, HTML portlets, favorites, user management, and portal management. The list of portlet partners is continually increasing, providing a wide range of services and information, including alternate search engines, business intelligence, and news services. Data can be rendered in various formats, such as charts, forms, and tables. In addition, content from existing Web sites can be clipped for use in your portals.
