Oracle Internet Directory

Oracle Internet Directory is an LDAP v3 service that combines the scalability and reliability of Oracle database technology with the flexibility and compatibility of the LDAP v3 directory standard.

Oracle Internet Directory provides:

  • Centralized management of user accounts, including profiles, credentials, and privileges

  • Enterprise-wide e-mail address book and "white pages" directory

  • Optional self-service editing of user account information

  • Centralized management of user preferences across multiple applications

  • Validation of user login through a single sign-on server

You administer Oracle Internet Directory server processes using Application Server Control, just as you do with other Oracle Application Server components. You can also use Oracle Directory Manager and the Web-based Self-Service Console, part of the Oracle Delegated Administration Services, to administer Oracle Internet Directory.
