1 Oracle Application Server Integration B2B Installation Overview

This chapter provides an overview of installation scenarios and tasks for Oracle Application Server Integration B2B (OracleAS Integration B2B).

This chapter contains these topics:

1.1 OracleAS Integration B2B Components Overview

OracleAS Integration B2B provides a complete, integrated product for designing, deploying, and managing integrations between enterprises.

OracleAS Integration B2B components reside in the following locations:

Figure 1-1 shows OracleAS Integration B2B with the Oracle Application Server Infrastructure and Metadata Repository.

Note:

Oracle strongly recommends that you install the middle and infrastructure tiers on separate hosts for better performance, as shown in Figure 1-1. Running all Oracle components on the same host is possible, but not recommended.

1.2 Installation Deployment Scenarios

OracleAS Integration B2B can be configured with the Oracle Application Server Metadata Repository running in Oracle Application Server Infrastructure, Oracle Database 10g, or Oracle Database 9i version 9.2.0.5.0. The two scenarios, Infrastructure and Database, are described in the following sections:

1.2.1 Scenario 1: OracleAS Integration B2B Configuration with OracleAS Infrastructure

Oracle Application Server Infrastructure includes an Oracle Application Server Metadata Repository, a single sign-on server, and Oracle Internet Directory, which is a lightweight directory access protocol (LDAP). The Oracle Application Server Metadata Repository is registered by default in Oracle Internet Directory. You can optionally associate this Oracle Application Server Metadata Repository version with OracleAS Integration B2B by selecting the Identity Management Access configuration option during installation.

1.2.2 Scenario 2: OracleAS Integration B2B Configuration with Oracle Database 10g or Oracle Database 9i version 9.2.0.5.0

You can configure Oracle Database 10g or Oracle Database 9i version 9.2.0.5.0 for use as the Oracle Application Server Metadata Repository by running the Oracle Application Server Metadata Repository Creation Assistant (RepCA) tool. The Oracle Application Server Metadata Repository is registered by default in Oracle Internet Directory. You can optionally associate this Oracle Application Server Metadata Repository version with OracleAS Integration B2B by selecting the Identity Management Access configuration option during installation.
