Creating a self-relationship (Query Builder)

If the self-relationship has already been identified in the underlying data dictionary, the two related columns in the table and the alias are connected with a relationship line.

To create a self-relationship:

  1. Click the Set Table Relationship button in the Icon Bar to display the Set Relationship dialog box, which displays a list of tables that have relationships defined with the selected table.

  2. Click the table name.
  3. Click Include.
  4. Click OK.
  5. Repeat the above procedure for the same table name.

Query Builder automatically names the copy of the related table with an alias and draws a temporary relationship line, to connect the two counterpart columns in the table and the alias.

  1. Rename the table to match the name of the original.
