Runtime Trace Settings dialog box

The Runtime Trace Settings dialog box enables you to specify what, if any, tracing information you want recorded during report execution. These settings map to the executable arguments available with rwbuilder, and are specified using the same values.

When you run the report, the tracing information will be written to the file that you specify in the Trace File field. If you select the Distribution check box, a trace of which distribution lists were used is recorded; you can use this information to determine which section was sent to which destination.

This dialog box contains:

Trace File

Name of the trace file.

Trace Mode

Either Append (adds the new information to the end of the file) or Replace (overwrites the file).

Errors/Warnings

List error messages and warnings in the trace file (maps to command line argument TRACEOPTS=TRACE_ERR).

Profile Messages

Log performance statistics in the trace file (maps to command line argument TRACEOPTS=TRACE_PRF).

Breakpoints

List breakpoints in the trace file (maps to command line argument TRACEOPTS=TRACE_BRK).

Processing of Report Objects

Log trace information on all the report objects in the trace file (maps to command line argument TRACEOPTS=TRACE_APP).

Execution of PL/SQL

Log trace information on all the PL/SQL objects in the trace file (maps to command line argument TRACEOPTS=TRACE_PLS).

Execution of SQL

Log trace information on all the SQL in the trace file (maps to command line argument TRACEOPTS=TRACE_SQL).

Timestamp

Enter a timestamp for each entry in the trace file (maps to command line argument TRACEOPTS=TRACE_TMS).

Distribution

List distribution lists in the trace file. You can use this information to determine which section was sent to which destination. The trace file format is very similar to the .DST file format, so you can cut and paste to generate a .DST file from the trace file (maps to command line argument TRACEOPTS=TRACE_DST).

All

Log all possible trace information in the trace file (maps to command line argument TRACEOPTS=TRACE_ALL).
