You can easily use the Express Query tool to create a query with data from an Express database and display the results in Reports Builder.
To create an Express query:In the Data Model view, single-click on in the tool palette.
Click in the main area (canvas region) of the window and complete the fields in the Connect dialog box to establish a connection to Express Server.
After you connect to Express Server, the Express Query dialog box is displayed.
In the Choose Database box, select a database.
If you do not see the database that you want to use, then choose Attach Database to attach a database. (Once you attach a database, it is displayed in the Choose Database box.)
Select measures for the query. To do this, double-click on the measures in the Available Measures box. Or, use one of the following buttons:
Note: To remove a measure from the Selected Measures box, double-click on the measure. Or, use one of the following buttons:
Choose Selector to display the Selector dialog box, where you can view the current selection script and use Selector tools to refine or replace the selection for this dimension.
Tip: To see the current values, choose the List tool.
Select values for each dimension.
When you complete your work in the Selector, choose OK.
When you complete your work in the Express Query dialog box, choose OK.
If you try to create an Express Server query without installing the appropriate files, you will see the following error message:
XR-3013: The Express xConnect.ini file is missing or incomplete
If you receive this error, make sure that you have the required Express Server connection files present on your machine before creating an Express Server query.
