A matrix group field is used to break the data in your report into masters and details (also called parents and children). A matrix group field appears in a master group and, for each record of the master group, a corresponding detail record is retrieved and formatted as a matrix.
If the field(s) in the Matrix Group Fields list are as desired, click Next.
To change the fields in the Matrix Group Fields list:
Click a field in the Available Fields list that you want to make a matrix group field.
Click the right arrow (>) to move the field to the Group Fields list. A line defining the field’s break level appears above it.
Repeat Steps 1 and 2 for all of the matrix group fields you want in the report.
(Optional) Select a field in the Matrix Group Fields list and drag it to the desired break level.
(Optional) To move a field out of the Matrix Group Fields list, click it then click the left arrow (<).
If you want two columns to be in the same break level, click a column in the Matrix Group Fields list first, then move a column from the Available Fields list to automatically place it in the same break level as the selected column. If you want to create a new break level, click a column in the Available Fields list, click a break level in the Matrix Group Fields list, and move the column from the Available Fields list. The column is automatically placed in a new break level beneath the selected break level.
Not all Oracle database datatypes are supported at this time. will identify
the datatype as unknown in the wizard if your query selects an unsupported
Oracle database datatype.
Column objects and Ref columns cannot be break columns. Therefore, you cannot select them in the Available Fields list.
Attribute columns in the Matrix Group Fields list use underscore notation to indicate their parentage (for example, ADDRESS_ZIP).
