Use the Reference Lines dialog box to specify reference lines for a graph. For example, in a graph that plots scores of students' projects, you might use a reference line to show the minimum score for a passing grade.
You can display three reference lines for each data axis in a graph. The Y1-axis, Y2-axis, and the X-axis in a scatter or bubble graph are data axes.
Show -- Select the reference line(s) to show.
Color -- Select the color for the reference line.
Thickness -- Select a thickness for the reference line.
Label -- Type a label for the reference line. The label appears in the legend of the graph.
Cross at -- Type the value at which the reference line should appear along the axis. For example, if you display a reference line for the minimum score for a passing grade, you would enter the minimum score, such as 75, here.
Note: If you specify a reference line outside of the axis range, then the graph does not display the reference line. For example, if the data in the graph ranges from values of 20 to 100, then an automatically scaled axis has endpoints of 0 and a little over 100. If you specify a reference line at 212, for example, then the reference line is not displayed. The graph does not change scale to accommodate the appearance of reference lines.
