Environment variables

Environment variables are parameters that configure the Oracle Reports environment. The OracleAS installer automatically defines default values for relevant environment variables. If you want something other than the default environment, you can edit the environment variable settings:

Note: The reports.sh file in Oracle Reports 10g Release 2 (10.1.2) may contain some required changes. Thus, if you have made any changes to the reports.sh file, save a backup before you perform your upgrade. Post-upgrade, merge your modifications with the reports.sh file installed with 10g Release 2 (10.1.2).

CA_GPREFS

The location of the global preferences file, CAGPREFS.ORA.
CA_UPREFS The location of the user preferences file, CAUPREFS.ORA.
DELIMITED_LINE_END Whether to print the delimited character at the end of the line for delimited output.
DOC The location of the online documentation files, including online help.
DEVELOPER_NLS_LANG The language for Reports Builder. For more information, refer to the chapter "NLS and Bidirectional Support" in the Oracle Reports Services Publishing Reports to the Web manual.

NLS_CALENDAR

The calendar system used.

NLS_CREDIT

The string used to indicate a positive monetary value.

NLS_CURRENCY

The local currency symbol.

NLS_DATE_FORMAT

The default format used for dates.

NLS_DATE_LANGUAGE

The default language used for dates.

NLS_DEBIT

The string used to indicate a negative monetary value.

NLS_ISO_CURRENCY

The ISO currency symbol.

NLS_LANG

The language settings used by OracleAS Reports Services.

NLS_LIST_SEPARATOR

The character used to separate items in a list.

NLS_MONETARY_CHARACTERS

The decimal character and thousands separator for monetary values.

NLS_NUMERIC_CHARACTERS

The decimal character and grouping separator for numeric values.

NLS_SORT

The type of sort used for character data.
ORACLE_AFM (UNIX only) The location of AFM files. TK_AFM is considered first, then ORACLE_AFM.

ORACLE_HOME

The home directory in which Windows Oracle products are installed.
ORACLE_HPD (UNIX only) The location of HPD files. TK_HPD is considered first, then ORACLE_HPD.
ORACLE_PATH The search path for files referenced by Reports Runtime (rwrun). The directories specified by ORACLE_PATH are searched after those specified by REPORTS_PATH.
ORACLE_PPD (UNIX only) The location of PPD files. TK_PPD is considered first, then ORACLE_PPD.
ORACLE_TFM (UNIX only) The location of TFM files. TK_TFM is considered first, then ORACLE_TFM.
ORAINFONAV_DOCPATH The location of the table of contents and index for your online documentation.
PRINTER (UNIX only) See TK_PRINT.
REMOTE The default and remote SQL*Net driver to use when connecting through a local database.
REPORTS_ADD_HWMARGIN Whether to include the hardware-based left margin.
REPORTS_ARABIC_NUMERAL The numeric format when generating bidirectional (BiDi) PDF output.
REPORTS_BIDI_ALGORITHM The bidirectional (BiDi) algorithm to be used to resolve NLS-related issues of BiDi languages (for example, Arabic or Hebrew), such as the period (.) for NLS_CURRENCY.

REPORTS_CGIDIAGBODYTAGS

The HTML attributes to add to the <BODY> tag in the rwcgi diagnostic and debugging output.
REPORTS_CGIDIAGHEADTAGS The HTML tags to insert between the <HEAD> and </HEAD> tags in the rwcgi diagnostic and debugging output.
REPORTS_CGIHELP The URL and URI of the rwcgi help file that should display when rwcgi is invoked with the following empty request:
http://your_webserver/rwcgi?
REPORTS_CGIMAP The fully qualified file name and location of the rwcgi map file if map file configuration is used. For example:

REPORTS_CGINODIAG Whether to disable all debugging and diagnostic output, such as help and showmap, from rwcgi.
REPORTS_CLASSPATH The list of jar files and directories for the Java Virtual Machine (JVM) when started by the Oracle Reports executables.
REPORTS_COOKIE_EXPIRE The lifetime of a cookie within a given Reports Server session.
REPORTS_CONTAINSHTMLTAGS Whether to interpret the HTML Tags for the objects whose Contains HTML Tags property is set to YES.
REPORTS_DB_AUTH The database authentication template used to log on to the database.
REPORTS_DEFAULT_DISPLAY

Whether to implement: the elimination of the dependency on the DISPLAY environment variable (UNIX only), screenprinter.ppd for surface resolution for images and font information (UNIX only), and enhanced imaging support (all platforms).

REPORTS_DEFAULT_PIXEL_SIZE A pixel size that overrides the operating system’s default pixel size when generating a report to HTML output.
REPORTS_RTF_ENABLE_SPACING Whether to enable functionality that prevents truncation of multiline text in RTF output.
REPORTS_ENCRYPTION_KEY The encryption key used to encrypt the user name and password.
REPORTS_ENHANCED_SUBSET The switch used to specify whether Oracle Reports considers the enhanced TrueType subsetting feature. This switch is enabled, by default.
REPORTS_GRAPH_IMAGE_DPI A dots per inch (DPI) value for graphs output to a printer (PDF, PostScript, and PCL). This enables you to increase the fixed default value of 72 DPI, thus improving image resolution for graphs.
REPORTS_IGNORE_IMAGE_TAG_RES Whether the default image size information included in the image data is ignored or not.
REPORTS_JPEG_QUALITY_FACTOR The level of image quality desired for JPEG images.
REPORTS_JVM_OPTIONS Any JVM options that you want Reports Builder, Reports Runtime, or OracleAS Reports Services to consider when it starts its JVM.
REPORTS_NETWORK_CONFIG Valid custom network configuration file name in ORACLE_HOME/reports/conf/.
REPORTS_NLS_XML_CHARSETS An override option to enable you to define the character set encoding used when saving a report in XML format.
REPORTS_NO_DUMMY_PRINTER Whether the system’s surface and fonts should be used instead of the printer’s.
REPORTS_NO_HTML_SPACE_REPLACE Whether spaces should not be replaced with &nbsp; in HTML or HTMLCSS output.
REPORTS_OUTPUTIMAGEFORMAT The format Oracle Reports uses in output for graphics.
REPORTS_PATH The search path for files referenced by Reports Runtime (rwrun). The directories specified by REPORTS_PATH are searched first, then those specified by ORACLE_PATH.
REPORTS_RESOURCE The location of the resource files required for reports.  
REPORTS_SERVER The default Reports Server for Web Cartridge or Web CGI requests.
REPORTS_SRWRUN_TO_SERVER Whether to allow the SERVER, or USERID keywords when running a report using SRW.RUN_REPORT.
REPORTS_SOLARIS_9 Whether to correct an issue that hangs Reports Builder on Solaris 2.9.
REPORTS_SPACE_BREAK Whether to consider a white space as a delimiter for the purposes of word wrapping.
REPORTS_SSLPORT The port number when using SSL when you do not want to use the default port number.
REPORTS_SYS_AUTH The authentication template used to authenticate the username and password when users run report requests to a restricted Reports Server.
REPORTS_TAGLIB_URI The location of the tag prefix used in the Web source of a JSP-based report. It defines the Reports URI of the tag library (TAGLIB) declarations of the .jsp file.
REPORTS_TMP The directory in which you wish to store Reports Builder temporary files.
REPORTS_USEREXIT The libraries for use by Oracle Reports.
REPORTS_UTF8_XMLOUTPUT Whether the XML prolog value is used or the NLS character set is used.
RW The reports-specific directory within the Oracle Home.
TK_PRINT (UNIX only) The print command to be executed on UNIX for Oracle Reports 6i. In Oracle Reports 10g, TK_PRINT is obsolete: you can achieve the same results by using the printing script file: $ORACLE_HOME/bin/rwlpr.sh.
TK_PRINT_STATUS (UNIX only) The command executed to validate the printer.
TK_PRINTER (UNIX only) The default printer’s name.
TK_AFM (UNIX only) The location of AFM files. TK_AFM is considered first, then ORACLE_AFM.
TK_HPD (UNIX only) The location of HPD files. TK_HPD is considered first, then ORACLE_HPD.
TK_PPD (UNIX only) The location of PPD files. TK_PPD is considered first, then ORACLE_PPD.
TK_TFM (UNIX only) The location of TFM files. TK_TFM is considered first, then ORACLE_TFM.
USERNAME The variable part of a default logon account.
USER_NLS_LANG The language for the Reports Runtime (rwrun) component. For more information, refer to the chapter "NLS and Bidirectional Support" in the Oracle Application Server Reports Services Publishing Reports to the Web manual.
