Connect dialog box

The Connect dialog box enables you to connect to an Oracle or non-Oracle data source.

This dialog box contains:

User Name

Type your database user ID, not to exceed 512 bytes.

You can also type your entire connect string, but your password will be echoed.   For example:

username[/password]

username[/password][@database]

Password

Type your database password, not to exceed 30 bytes. To protect password security, there is no echo in this field.

Database

Type the name of the database, as defined in your tnsnames.ora file. This can be the name of a local database, or a communication protocol that enables you to access a remote database. The communication protocol you enter depends upon your operating system. For more details, refer to your Oracle Net Services documentation for your system or consult your DBA.

Connect

Confirms the information you have supplied and attempts a connection. If the database connection is successful, the dialog box closes. If the database connection is not successful, an error is issued.
