Selector options allow you flexibility in the display of dimension values in the Selector. You can:
Display dimension values in the Selector dialog box.
Change the way that dimension values are displayed and used throughout the Selector.
The option settings remain in effect each time the Selector dialog box is displayed from the current query.
By default, the Selector dialog box displays the selection script for a dimension's selection, but does not display the selected values. You can use the List tool to see the selected values, or you can set a Selector option to display the values in the Selector dialog box.
To display dimension values in the Selector dialog box:In the Selector dialog box, choose Options.
In the Selector Options dialog box, select Show selection values.
Choose OK.
By default, dimension values appear in the Selector as long labels, such as New York. Values also have short labels (for example, NY) and identifiers in the Express database, which are all caps with no spaces (for example, NEWYORK). Selector options allow you to choose the long labels, short labels, or the actual identifiers for display in the Selector list boxes.
Note: The Sort tool and the Match tool also use the kind of labels that you select here. For example, if you set the option to Values, then the Match tool will search for actual dimension values that match the string you specify. When the Sort tool sorts a dimension alphabetically, it will use the actual dimension value spellings to determine alphabetical order.
To change the display of dimension values in Selector lists:In the Selector dialog box, choose Options.
In the Selector Options dialog box, choose an option in the Show dimension values as box:
To display dimension values in their long label forms (such as New York), choose Long labels.
To display dimension values in their short label forms (such as NY), choose Short labels.
To display dimension values exactly as they appear in the Express database, choose Values.
Choose OK.
