Editing an Oracle Database Server User-Defined Datatype
Use the Stored Program Unit editor to modify existing object types and collection types.
You can edit the type specification of object types and collection types. The specification declares the attributes of the data structure. In the case of object types, the specification also specifies the optional methods that manipulate the data.
You can also edit the body of object types, which fully defines the methods and implements the specification. You can debug or replace the body without changing the type specification.
To edit the type specification of an object type or a collection type:
- In the Object Navigator, double-click a type icon to display the type specification
in the Stored Program Unit editor.
Or,
- From the pop-up menu on a type in the Object Navigator (right-click in
Windows), click Edit Type to display the type
specification in the Stored Program Unit editor.
Or,
- In the Stored Program Unit editor's Name drop-down
list, click a type name to display the source.
Note: The attributes and default restrictions of an object
type are part of the type specification.
To edit the methods of an object type:
- From the pop-up menu on an object type in the Object Navigator (right-click
in Windows), click Edit Body to display the object
body (methods) in the Stored Program Unit editor.
Or,
- In the Stored Program Unit editor's Name drop-down
list, click an object type name to display the source.
