About Copying Properties from One Object to Another

You can use the Copy Properties and Paste Properties commands to copy the property settings of one object to another object.

Properties can be copied and pasted in the Object Navigator, the Form Editor, the Menu Editor, and the Property Palette.

Copy Properties

You can copy the property settings of the selected objects to the clipboard.

Paste Properties

You can, paste the current clipboard property settings to any objects selected in that window. Properties that do not apply to the current selection are ignored.

You will most often copy the properties of an object to one or more objects of the same type. However, it is also possible to copy the properties of an object to objects of a different type. In this case, properties that do not apply to the target object are ignored.

You can copy the property settings of an object in one window and then paste those settings to an object in another window. For example, you might select a button in the Object Navigator, click Copy Properties to copy its property settings, then Paste those settings to a different button selected in the Form Editor.

When you copy the properties of a multiple selection, only properties that do not have conflicting values are copied to the clipboard. For example, if you copy the properties of three text items selected in the Object Navigator, the Width and Height settings are copied only if each text item is the same size.
