Developer NLS Lang and User NLS Lang Environment Variables
In most cases, setting a single value for NLS_LANG will meet your needs. However, if you need to use two sets of resource and message files on the same machine at the same time, two other environment variables are available:
- DEVELOPER_NLS_LANG specifies the language.
- USER_NLS_LANG specifies the language for the product's Runtime component.
The syntax of DEVELOPER_NLS_LANG and USER_NLS_LANG is the same as NLS_LANG.
Use these two variables, instead of the single NLS_LANG, in the following circumstances:
- You prefer to use Developer in English, but you are developing an application
for another language.
- You are creating an application to run in a language that uses a bidirectional
character set.
- You are creating an application to run in a language for which a local language
version of Developer is not available.
Note: If these environment variables are not specifically
set, they take their default values from NLS_LANG.
