Substitution Parameter Properties

Set the following properties to define substitution parameters:

Description

Case Restriction

Converts the end user-supplied value to the case specified (None, Upper, or Lower).

Default Value

The default value for the parameter. Displayed in the parameter value field when the prompt dialog appears.

Hint

Instructive or descriptive text that displays in the message line when the prompt dialog appears.

Name

The parameter name (must be two characters).

Prompt

Text string that defines the parameter value field in the Enter Parameter Values dialog (for example, Report Name or Customer ID).

Required

Determines whether the end user is required to supply a value for the parameter. Setting Required to No allows end users to leave the parameter value Null.

Secure

Determines whether the end user-supplied value is echoed to the screen as it is entered. Set Secure to Yes to hide a password value as it is entered.

Size

Specifies the maximum number of characters for the parameter value.
