Replacing a Record Group's Query

You can replace a group's current query with a new query by calling the POPULATE_GROUP_WITH_QUERY function.

The columns referenced in the new query must have the same structure as the columns referenced in the group's current query. That is, you cannot alter the column structure of a record group by calling POPULATE_GROUP_WITH_QUERY.

For example, you might replace a group's query when you want to modify the default WHERE and ORDER BY clauses.

The POPULATE_GROUP_WITH_QUERY function returns 0 if the query succeeds or an ORACLE error number if it fails.

The new query remains associated with the record group, and you can execute it by making subsequent calls to the POPULATE_GROUP function.
