About Tooltips

A tooltip is a small text box that displays help information about an item when the mouse enters the item.

A tooltip appears when the mouse enters an item and remains in the item for at least half a second. The text appears in a box centered directly beneath the item. The size of the box is determined by how much space is needed to display the text. The box is just large enough horizontally and vertically to display the text with a thin border around it.

The tooltip is displayed in the specified visual attribute. If a visual attribute is not specified, the tooltip uses the same visual attribute information as the item for which it is being displayed.

The tooltip remains visible until the mouse is moved outside the item or into a different item, another window is shown, or the user performs an action in the item for which the tooltip is being displayed.
