Checking out a File

Note: The check in and check out menu options will only be enabled if a form is currently open in Oracle Forms.

To check out a file:

  1. Open the file in Oracle Forms.
  2. Be sure that the work area and folder that you are using contains the version of the file that you want to edit.
  3. Select the File | Administration | Check Out.
  4. If prompted, log into SCM with your username, password, and connect string.
  5. Select any checkout options by clicking the checkbox:
  6. Provide Check Out notes. These notes describe why the Form is checked out and for how long.
  7. Select the OK button.
The Forms Definition file (fmb) is downloaded from SCM to the file system. It overwrites the currently active fmb file in Oracle Forms. An alert will say that the FMB file on the file system will be overwritten with the FMB file from SCM.
  8. Click OK if the files are the same.
  9. To ensure the correct FMB definition is loaded in Oracle Forms, close the active Form and re-open it. This will load the FMB file as it was downloaded from SCM.
  10. Edit, compile, and test the form as needed. You can save changes to the local file system, but be sure to check in the final version to SCM.

If you want to check out and open a file, and if you don't have an existing copy of it in the local file system, you'll need to map a folder in the work area of SCM to a folder in the filesystem.
