About Specifying LOV Return Items

You can specify a return item for any column in the LOV. When an end user selects a choice from the LOV, Oracle Forms assigns the selected value to the corresponding return item.

The return item can be an item in the current form, a global variable, or a form parameter. Enter the name of the return item using the appropriate syntax:

An item:

customer.name

A global variable

GLOBAL.my_global

A form parameter:

PARAMETER.my_parameter

Do not preface the object name with a colon (:).

Note: The data type of the return item must be compatible with the data type of the value being returned.

Remember that you can designate a return item for a hidden column (a column with its Display Width set to zero).

The return items can be specified using column properties or in the record group query SELECT statement of an LOV based on a query record group.
