About Image Types
You can incorporate two types of images into a Oracle Forms application:
-
- A graphic object is a static image (either vector or bitmap) that you import
from the file system or database and use as a static graphical element in
your application. Graphic objects are often used as background pictures. When
you save and compile a form module, graphic objects are incorporated into
the .FMB and .FMX files. You can manipulate graphic objects in the Layout
Editor as you would other objects.
-
-
- An image item is an interface control that stores and/or displays either
vector or bitmap images. Like other items that store values, an image item
can be a data block item (that relates directly to a database column) or a
control item. When you save and compile a form module, image items
are incorporated into the .FMB and .FMX files, but no image file is actually
associated with an image item until the item is populated at runtime.
At runtime, end users can navigate to and select image items, but cannot navigate to or select graphic objects.
