About Formatting Items in the Layout Editor

When you set the font, color, and pattern attributes of items in the Layout Editor, Oracle Forms updates the appropriate item properties in the Property Palette.

Because items are rendered in the style appropriate to the runtime platform, some item attributes are predefined and cannot be set in the Layout Editor:

When you format an item in the Layout Editor, Oracle Forms implicitly sets the item's Visual Attribute Group property to Custom. If an item is inheriting visual attributes from a named visual attribute, setting its properties in the Layout Editor breaks the association with the named visual attribute. If an item is inheriting visual attributes from a property class, setting those attributes in the Layout Editor overrides the inherited settings.
