Granting Database Roles Access to Menu Items

To grant database roles access to menu items:

  1. In the Object Navigator, select the menu item.
  2. Choose Tools | Property Palette.
  3. In the Property Palette, under the Menu Security node, double-click the Item Roles property field to display the Menu Item Roles dialog.

Oracle Forms displays the names of roles with access to the module in the Roles List. Roles with access to the currently-selected menu item are highlighted; roles without access are displayed in normal style.

Note: If the List is empty, no roles have been granted access to the menu module. You must grant roles access to the module before you can assign access to menu items.

  4. To grant a role access to the current menu item, use the mouse to select and deselect roles in the List (deselecting a role revokes an item's access):
  5. Click to select or deselect (the mouse click is a toggle)
  6. Shift-click to select more than one contiguous role
  7. Control-click to deselect a previously-selected role, independent of any other roles in the List
  8. Set the Display without Privilege property to specify how Oracle Forms should display the item to end users who don't have access to the item:

Yes

Item will be displayed, but disabled. On most platforms, disabled items are displayed with reduced contrast (or grayed) to indicate that the item is unavailable.

No

Item will be hidden completely.

In order to grant a role access to several menu items simultaneously, select multiple items by Shift-clicking or Control-clicking in the Object Navigator, and then set the Menu Item Roles property once for all selected items.
