Using a User-Named Editor
A user-named editor has the same text editing functionality as the default
editor. You create a user-named editor when you want to display the editor programmatically
with SHOW_EDITOR, or when you want to specify
custom editor attributes such as scroll bar and title.
Once you define a user-named editor, you can attach it to any text item in the form. When the operator navigates to the text item and invokes an editor, the user-named editor replaces the default editor for that item.
To create a user-named editor:
- In the Object Navigator, create an editor object.
- To create an editor, select the Editors node in the Object Navigator and
then choose Edit | Create.
- In the Property Palette, set the desired editor properties, including Height,
Width, X Position,
Y Position, Wrap
Style, Horizontal Scroll Bar Canvas,
Vertical Scroll Bar Canvas, and so on.
- Attach the editor to one or more text items in your form or display the
editor by calling the SHOW_EDITOR Built-in
procedure.
To attach a user-named editor to a text item:
- In the Object Navigator, select the desired text item.
- In the Property Palette, set the Editor
property to the desired user-named editor by selecting it from the Editor
property poplist.
- Specify the editor's display coordinates by setting the X
Position and Y Position properties.
