About Modifying the Default Navigation Sequence
You can override the default navigation sequence at the block or item level
by setting the Next Navigation
Block, Previous Navigation
Block, First Navigation Block,
Next Navigation Item, and
Previous Navigation Item
properties.
-
- The Next Navigation Block
and Previous Navigation Block
properties override the default navigation sequence defined by the order of
blocks Listed in the Object Navigator. Specifically, the Next
Navigation Block property allows you to name a different block as the
next block in the sequence.
-
- For example, given a form with three blocks, you could set Block 1's Next
Navigation Block property to change its default next block from Block
2 to Block 3. Doing so would yield a block navigation sequence of Block 1...Block
3...Block 1. Note that in this example, the next block for Block 3 remains
Block 1, and thus Block 2 is never visited during default keyboard navigation.
-
- You can also use the Next Navigation Data Block and Previous Navigation
Data Block properties to disable the Next Block and Previous Block operations.
For example, to disallow the [Next Block] key in Block 2, set Block 2's Next
Navigation Block property to itself (Block 2).
-
-
- The Next Navigation Item
and Previous Navigation Item
properties are comparable to the Next and Previous Navigation Block properties,
except that they control navigation at the item level, rather than the block
level.
-
-
- Set the First Navigation
Block form module property to specify a block as the target block other
than the first block in the navigation sequence when entering the form at
form startup. This property can be set in the Property Palette or programmatically
with the Built-in procedure SET_FORM_PROPERTY.
