Variables Window

The Variables window lists the local variable values of the current stack frame.

The Variables window has the following elements:

Upward pointing arrow

Click the upward pointing arrow at the top right corner to undock the window from the Debug Console.

Downward pointing arrow

Click the downward pointing arrow at the top right corner to dock the window in the Debug Console.

Pop-up menu commands

Pop-up menu commands (right-click in Windows) are accessible from the colored header (docked window) or the first line below the window title (undocked window). The commands available are:

  • Dock - Docks a floating debug window inside the Debug Console. Command is disabled when a window is docked in the console.
  • Undock - Makes a docked debug window float outside the Debug Console. Command is disabled when a window is floating outside the console.
  • Hide - Closes an opened docked or floating window.

Stack Frame

Drop-down list displays the current stack frame. Click the drop-down list to choose another frame.

The current frame selected in the Variables window causes the current frame in the Stack window to change accordingly. Choosing a new frame in the Variables window is the same as choosing a new frame in the Stack window.

Variable

Local variable name.

If a variable is a reference to a record or object, you can expand the variable if it has a plus sign (+) next to the variable name. If a variable name has a minus sign (-), it is already fully expanded.

To expand or collapse a variable, click the plus sign (+) or minus sign (-).

Value

Current value for a local variable.

The debugger automatically fills in the value. If the value has recently changed in the current execution context, it displays in red.

To edit a value, click inside the cell and type a new value. Press the Enter key to set the new value.
