Copying Objects in the Menu Editor
To copy a menu:
- Control-drag the shaded menu handle to the target item.
- When you click on a handle, it displays as a solid rectangle, the cursor
changes to a plus sign (+), and as you move the cursor to a specific location,
Oracle Forms highlights the places where you can drop the menu.
Oracle Forms then displays the alert:
Duplicate menu or reuse original?
- Do one of the following:
- Choose
Duplicate to make a separate copy of the menu.
If there are any submenus, Oracle Forms then displays the message:
Copy submenus?
Select Yes to copy all levels of submenus, No
to copy just the first level.
- Choose Reuse original to keep just one copy
of the menu, but refer to it from two places.
Reuse original does not create a new instance
of the original, but merely defines a pointer to the original. This allows
you to invoke the same menu from more than one menu item. Both menus are identical
and share the same name, thus they both display the Shared
indicator. Any subsequent changes to either instance of the menu also will
appear on the other menu.
Hint: If you have one instance of a shared menu
selected and want to know where the other instances are, choose View
| Next Instance.
To copy a menu item:
- Select the menu item, then control-drag the menu item to the target item.
