About Compiling Modules

Before an application can be run, you must compile an executable .FMX file from an .FMB design file created in Oracle Forms. When you Generate a form or menu module any uncompiled program units are compiled and an executable runfile is created.

When the Build Before Running preference is set to Yes (the default setting), Oracle Forms implicitly compiles a form when the Program | Run Form command is issued. Forms may also be explicitly compiled from Oracle Forms or from the command line interface.

When you compile a form, Oracle Forms compiles any uncompiled PL/SQL code it contains. Any compilation errors cause generation to fail. When this happens, the Generation Errors dialog box is displayed showing appropriate error messages. By default, each time the compile command is issued Oracle Forms compiles only those program units that are currently marked as uncompiled.

For an application with multiple modules to be successfully deployed at runtime, all of the .FMX, .MMX., and .PLX files used by the form must be delivered.
